Bailieborough School of Music currently have two concert band groups, a junior band, made up of National School students, and a senior band, made up of Secondary level students. Other ensembles have included a Jazz Big Band “The Groove” and a “Recorder Consort” group.
Both bands perform regularly at concerts, locally in Bailieborough Community School, the Ramor Theatre, Virginia and other venues.They often take part in charitable events.
In the past the School of Music has organised and taken part in concerts in the National Concert Hall, Dublin and The Helix, DCU, Dublin. A highlight during the last ten years was the regular appearance of the Senior Band at the Chernobyl Children’s Appeal Concert in the Helix. In 2012 and 2013 the senior band performed at the All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in Cavan town.
Students from the music school have gone on to participate in the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland performing in venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York and the Royal Albert Hall in London. Many students past and present take part with other local groups and schools in musical presentations. The School of Music has produced two CD’s over the years and also went on a tour to Holland.
